The city is recognized in that which is left behind, in those trac-es that talk about its life and identity. What does the city do with all that has lost its sense? What happens with things when they ‘disappear’? There are places in the city where urban memory lies. There are spaces where objects which have been part of the city but are now meaningless, are kept and stored for an undefined period of time, from public monuments to private collections. They are cemeteries of objects and collec-tions; apothekes of a modern city. This research is a reflection on urban heritage from the view of architecture of accumulation, objects in the space and its ap-plication to the city. It attempts to discover the cultural land-scape hidden in the stores of the city of Barcelona analyzing five of them -the ‘Artistic heritage store’, the ‘Monument store’, both from the Barcelona City Council; the History Museum Laboratory (MUHBA), the Conservation and restoration centre of MUHBA and the Archeological archive-. The aim is to bring light to these places that are filled up with urban memory in the form of objects or collections accumulated, which gather public and private, domestic and urban issues without distinction. The importance of these places lies in the whole collection of objects and the particular narrative that can be built around them, giving them value as a collection and turning them into museum pieces. The result is a kind of catalogue of the under-taken visits to each of the stores, as if they were small invisible cities that, each of them with its guarded objects, offer a differ-ent way of understanding Barcelona. At the same time, they allow a reflection on spaces common to all cities, since as they are ‘invisible’ they are universal. 2021-01-08T08:00:55Z 2021-01-08T08:00:55Z 2016 info:eu-repo/semantics/conferenceObject Santolaria Castellanos, Ana Isabel.
