None of the funding sources took part in the design, collection, analysis or interpretation of the data, or in the decision to submit the manuscript for publication. The corresponding authors had full access to all the data in the study and had final responsibility to submit for publication. The datasets generated and analysed during the current study are not publicly available due to national data regulations and for ethical reasons, including the possibility that some information might compromise research participants’ consent because our participants only gave their consent for the use of their data by the original team of investigators. However, these data can be requested by signing a data sharing agreement as approved by the relevant research ethics committees and the steering committee of the PREDIMED-Plus study. Research examining associations between objectively-measured napping time and type 2 diabetes (T2D) is lacking. This study aimed to evaluate daytime napping in relation to T2D and adiposity measures in elderly individuals from the Mediterranean region. A cross-sectional analysis of baseline data from 2190 elderly participants with overweight/obesity and metabolic syndrome, in the PREDIMED-Plus trial, was carried out. Accelerometer-derived napping was measured. Prevalence ratios (PR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) for T2D were obtained using multivariable-adjusted Cox regression with constant time. Linear regression models were fitted to examine associations of napping with body mass index (BMI) and waist circumference (WC). Participants napping ≥90 min had a higher prevalence of T2D (PR 1.37 (1.06, 1.78)) compared with those napping 5 to <30 min per day. Significant positive associations with BMI and WC were found in those participants napping ≥30 min as compared to those napping 5 to <30 min per day. The findings of this study suggest that longer daytime napping is associated with higher T2D prevalence and greater adiposity measures in an elderly Spanish population at high cardiovascular risk. 2020-05-13T09:17:21Z 2020-05-13T09:17:21Z 2019-07-19 journal article Papandreou, C.; Díaz-López, A.; Babio, N.; Martínez-González, M.A.; Bulló, M.; Corella, D.; Fitó, M.; Romaguera, D.; Vioque, J.; Alonso-Gómez, Á.M.; Wärnberg, J.; Martínez, A.J.; Serra-Majem, L.; Estruch, R.; Fernández-García, J.C.; Lapetra, J.; Pintó, X.; Tur, J.A.; Garcia-Rios, A.; Bueno-Cavanillas, A.; Delgado-Rodríguez, M.; Matía-Martín, P.; Daimiel, L.; Martín-Sánchez, V.; Vidal, J.; Vázquez, C.; Ros, E.; Buil-Cosiales, P.; Becerra-Tomas, N.; Martinez-Lacruz, R.; Schröder, H.; Konieczna, J.; Garcia-de-la-Hera, M.; Moreno-Rodriguez, A.; Barón-López, J.; Pérez-Farinós, N.; Abete, I.; Bautista-Castaño, I.; Casas, R.; Muñoz-Garach, A.; Santos-Lozano, J.M.; Trias, F.; Gallardo-Alfaro, L.; Ruiz-Canela, M.; Barragan, R.; Goday, A.; Galmés-Panadés, A.M.; González-Botella, A.; Vaquero-Luna, J.; Toledo, E.; Castañer, O.; Salas-Salvadó, J.
