De la etnografía al arte. Una travesía estética de la máscara en la calle. XX a través de asociaciones o instituciones formando parte de las políticas de las administraciones locales, comarcales, regionales, nacionales e incluso trasnacionales. La patrimonialización implica necesariamente las acciones de identificar, de exhibir y de conservar y, en no pocos casos, de recuperar o reinventar los ecos que proceden del pasado. Cuando la fiesta es un marcador de identidad muy fuerte su capacidad trasciende el ámbito puramente local. Hoy día la mascarada, como otros productos del folklore —además del fuerte componente socializador que siguen manteniendo, pues las pequeñas comunidades rurales hoy dispersas se congregan en torno esa cultura pasada— se ha abierto a las nuevas narrativas que ofrece la modernidad. Analizaremos tres murales ejecutados por David Sánchez Cobos (Maker) y Alejandro Pérez Carbajal (Land) en la ciudad de Zamora, capital de una provincia rica en estas manifestaciones. Masked festivals are social events that have been organized since the late 20th century through associations or institutions, becoming part of the policies of local, regional, national, and even transnational administrations. Heritage preservation necessarily involves the actions of identifying, displaying, and conserving, and in many cases, recovering or reinventing the echoes of the past. When a festival serves as a strong marker of identity, its significance transcends the purely local scope. Today, the masked festival, like other elements of folklore—besides the strong socializing component it still holds, as small rural communities that are now dispersed gather around this past culture—has opened up to the new narratives offered by modernity.
