The datasets contain data on the profile of individual candidates and their electoral success in the last three partliamentary elections in Lusembourg (2013, 2018 and 2023) and the last three elections to the National Council in Switzerland (2015, 2019 and 2023). The data were obtained mainly from the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the Swiss Federal Statistical Office and other internet resources. The unit of analysis is the individual candidate, and only candidates from parties that were awarded at least one seat in one of the three elections in each country were included (Tables A1 and A2 in the appendix). The total number of cases was 1,260 (420 in each election) in Luxembourg and 11,983 in Switzerland (3,200, 3,827, and 4,956 in each election, respectively)
