Is ‘An-other Humanism’ Possible through the Folds of Big Data?: Big Data Through the Ambivalenceof the Technology that Drives the Information Revolution

Abstract

With the deployment of the "revolution in information and communication technologies", we consider how to research and teach in the new field of digital humanities, taking into account the possibilities of working with Data Base while being aware of the risk of falling into blind faith in a technocratic "dataism". From there, it is necessary to address the need and possibility of an "other humanism", taking into account the criticisms of previous humanisms, but collecting the heritage of a tradition with essential contributions to address questions related to the sense of human existence. Hence the question, following Deleuze's study of Leibniz as a baroque author, about how to consider all this in the folds of algorithmic data management in an era that we can call neo-baroque.

Con el despliegue de la "revolución de las tecnologías de la información y la comunicación" se plantea cómo investigar y enseñar en el nuevo campo de las Humanidades digitales, teniendo en cuenta las posibilidades de trabajar con Data Base a la vez que siendo conscientes del riesgo de caer en fe ciega en un "dataísmo" tecnocrático. Desde ahí, es necesario abordar la necesidad y posibilidad de un "humanismo otro", teniendo en cuenta las críticas a los humanismos anteriores, pero recogiendo la herencia de una tradición con aportaciones imprescindibles para tratar las cuestiones relativas al sentido de la existencia humana. De ahí la pregunta, siguiendo el estudio de Deleuze sobre Leibniz como autor barroco, sobre cómo considerar todo ello en los pliegues del manejo algorítmico de datos en una época que podemos llamar neobarroca.
