Abstract

"La Infanta de Velázquez" es un drama de Jerónimo López Mozo que rinde homenaje a uno de los mayores directores del teatro europeo del siglo XX, Tadeusz Kantor. El artista polaco, al que siempre le había fascinado la figura de la infanta María Teresa, se convierte en uno de los protagonistas de este texto dramático. Con el hábil recurso de retratar a Kantor junto a la Infanta, López Mozo trata de rescatar del olvido los elementos constituyentes del llamado Teatro de la Muerte. En el presente artículo analizaremos los principios de la obra del director de teatro polaco que López Mozo incluyó en "La Infanta de Velázquez": desde los objetos escénicos y los personajes kantorianos recurrentes hasta la reflexión teórico-crítica.

"La Infanta de Velázquez" is a play by Jerónimo López Mozo that honours one of the greatest stage directors of the twentieth century European theater, Tadeusz Kantor. The Polish artist, who had always been fascinated by the figure of the Infanta Maria Teresa, becomes one of the protagonists of this dramatic text. With the skillful resource of depicting Kantor along with the Infanta, el dramaturgo español tries to rescue from oblivion the constituent elements of the so-called Theatre of Death. In this article we will discuss the principles of the work of Polish theater director which López Mozo included in "La Infanta de Velázquez": from the scenic objects or kantorians recurrent characters to the theoretical and critical reflection.
