This article contains the conclusions held in our Doctoral Thesis Slavery and captivity in the Kingdom of Granada at the end of the Middle Ages. Málaga (1487-1538). It analyses the characteristics of the loss of freedom in the shores of the Alboran Sea, distinguishing between captivity and slavery, two phenomena whose limits are not always clear, although both of them are without a doubt different. Theoretical and methodological problems are diverse in each case, and thus we have put under critical reflection the knowledge we have from the documentation compiled together, with the aim to go deeply into the comprehensiveness of both of them.es_ES
