La transformación finisecular del Colegio de San Pablo en Granada: 1871-1900

Abstract

El antiguo Colegio de San Pablo, germen del Patrimonio Inmueble de la Universidad de Granada, experimentó en el último cuarto del siglo XIX un gran proceso de reforma, a nivel arquitectónico y urbanístico, que dificulta en la actualidad el reconocimiento de la verdadera dimensión y forma de algunos de sus espacios, en especial, de la primitiva residencia jesuita, organizada en torno al actual segundo patio de la Facultad de Derecho. El trazado de un preciso recorrido gráfico ha permitido ilustrar esta compleja transformación, mediante un detenido análisis de las fuentes documentales y la observación in situ y levantamiento del estado actual.

The old College of St. Paul, the germ of the Architectural Heritage of the University of Granada, experienced in the last quarter of the nineteenth century a great process of reform, at the architectural and urban levels, that makes it difficult today the recognition of the true dimension and form of some of its spaces, especially the original Jesuit resi dence, organized around the current second court of the Faculty of Law. The drawing of a precise graphical route has allowed to illus trate this complex transformation, based on a detailed analysis of the documentary sources and the observation in situ and the uprising of the current state.
