La violencia contra las mujeres en Páradais, de Fernanda Melchor

Abstract

Este artículo es un análisis de la violencia (masculina) contra las mujeres contenida en la obra Páradais, de Fernanda Melchor. Para tal fin, en primer lugar, se elabora un estudio del marco teórico teniendo en cuenta, por una parte, el concepto de violencia machista y, por la otra, la pers-pectiva de género como modelo explicativo y categoría de análisis. Posteriormente, se aborda el análisis de la violencia contra las mujeres presente en la novela, partiendo de la agresión física y sexual contra uno de los personajes femeninos, y tratando los esquemas cognitivos sexistas, así como los distintos agentes de socialización que se encuentran en el trasfondo de este tipo de com-portamientos que atentan contra la integridad y la vida de las mujeres. El objetivo de este trabajo será observar cómo la violencia machista es descrita y recreada en una obra de autoría femenina, establecer una comparación entre la ficción y la realidad social mexicana y ahondar en la com-prensión del origen de estas manifestaciones violentas hacia las mujeres.

This article is an analysis of (men’s) violence against women as portrayed in Fernanda Melchor’s novel Páradais. To this end, a study of the theoretical framework has been carried out, taking into account, on the one hand, the concept of male violence and, on the other hand, the gender per-spective as an explanatory model and category of analysis. Secondly, it has been addressed the analysis of the novel itself, starting with the physical and sexual aggression against one of the female characters, and addressing the sexist cognitive schemes, as well as the different agents of socialisation that are behind this type of behavior that threatens the integrity and life of women. The purpose of this study is to observe how violence is depicted in this work written by a woman, to establish a comparison between fiction and Mexican social reality and to deepen the under-standing of the origin of these violent expressions towards women.
