Abstract

Un contexto como el de la península de Baja California, periférico en la actualidad de la realidad nacional a la que pertenece, e igualmente externo al conjunto de los territorios integrados en Nueva España entre los siglos XVI y XIX, conforma hoy en día un espacio desigual, con fuertes desequilibrios expresados en la distribución de su población, la estructura viaria que la atraviesa y una atracción para el visitante que se proyecta en el foco turístico del extremo sur de una geografía que atesora a su largo y ancho, algunos enclaves declarados por su calidad y significación patrimonio de la Humanidad. Este capítulo reflexiona sobre su riqueza e importancia.
