Una iconografía andaluza en Iberoamérica: Jesús recogiendo sus vestiduras

Abstract

La Pasión de Cristo estableció hitos iconográfi- cos importantes empleados por la Iglesia en su propaganda a través del Arte. Dicho reperto- rio, insuficiente en ocasiones, obligó a recurrir a una plástica denominada devocional, donde los valores estéticos quedaban relegados en fa- vor de la intención piadosa de la imagen. Este texto analiza la definición y difusión de una iconografía concreta, Jesús recogiendo sus ves- tiduras, que desde Andalucía se propagó por Iberoamerica en el siglo XVIII.

The Passion of Christ established important iconographic landmarks used by the Church in its propaganda through art. This repertoire, insufficient sometimes forced to resort to a plastic called devotional, where aesthetic values were relegated in favor of the pious intention of the image.
