Giuseppe Terragni and Aldo Rossi took advantage of projects of
monuments destined for individual or collective memory for formal and com
positional experimentation. These architectures have in common the use of a
forceful geometry, the importance of the materiality that de nes the project,
especially the stone, and the way to appropriate the place. For these reasons,
four works by these influential Italian architects of the 20th century were chosen
as learning model for the subject Architectural Graphic Expression 1 of the
degree in Architecture at the University of Granada. The methodology used is
based on placing the student as the protagonist of their own learning, the teacher
occupying the role of mentor or director, guiding the student in their research
and knowledge processes. The use of such signi cant architectural references
constitutes a motivating element for the students, enhances the cross-curricular
subjects between of the degree and breaks with the isolation that the study of the
most abstract geometric forms supposes.
