Africanismo, mujeres y árabe marroquí

Abstract

Fue en tiempos del Protectorado de España en Marruecos (1912-1956) cuando dos mujeres se interesaron por los estudios del árabe marroquí en nuestro país. La primera fue la maestra María del Rosario Jardiel Poncela, que ofreció una conferencia sobre «El árabe vulgar y la necesidad de propagar su estudio en España» pronunciada en Madrid en 1915, y la segunda fue María Valenzuela de Mulero, autora de un Método de árabe vulgar publicado en Tetuán en el año 1957. El objetivo de este artículo es, de una parte, dar a conocer las contribuciones que estas dos pioneras hicieron a los estudios del árabe marroquí durante el Protectorado, un periodo en el que escasos fueron los textos escritos por mujeres y, de otra parte, mostrar la imagen ideologizada que transmitieron de la sociedad marroquí y, por ende, de sus mujeres, generalizada en buena medida por los agentes de la colonización.

During the time of the Spanish Protectorate of Morocco (1912-1956) two women became interested in the study of Moroccan Arabic in our country. The first one was María del Rosario Jardiel Poncela, who held a conference on «Vulgar Arabic and the need to spread its study in Spain», delivered in Madrid in 1915, and the second one was María Valenzuela de Mulero, author of Method of Vulgar Arabic, published in Tetuan in 1957. The purpose of this article is on the one hand, to showcase the contributions in the field of Moroccan Arabic studies carried out by these pioneer women during the time of the Spanish Protectorate, a period in which relatively few texts were written by women, and on the other to present the ideologized image conveyed about the Moroccan society and thus their women, a perception widespread to a great extent by the colonization actors during the colonial context.
