Los oficios del transporte en el reino de Granada: arrieros y trajineros de Guadix y su tierra (s. XVIII)

Abstract

La deficitaria red viaria del reino de Granada, entre otros aspectos, condicionó el transporte del sureste peninsular durante la Edad Moderna. El objetivo del artículo es estudiar algunas características de quienes transportaron mercancías en Guadix y su tierra como son sus perfiles demográficos y económicos. Para ello se ha utilizado la documentación del Catastro del Marqués de la Ensenada que nos ha permitido saber la estructura, composición y tamaño de sus hogares, así como la propiedad y la regulación del trabajo. El interés de esta investigación se justifica en los diferentes oficios del transporte que se registran la comarca de Guadix y que nos permiten conocer a quienes formaron parte de la Real Cabaña de Carreteros, Cabañiles, Jabarderos y Trajineros de Granada.

The deficient road network of the kingdom of Granada was one of the most important factors that conditioned the transport of the southeast of the peninsula during the Modern Age. This paper aims to study the characteristics (i.e demographic and economic profiles) of those who transported goods in Guadix and its land. For this purpose, the documentation of the Catastro del Marqués de la Ensenada has been employed. By that, the structure, composition and size of carriers’ homes, as well as the ownership and regulation of their work. With this work, better knowledge about the different offices of the transport in the region of Guadix is gained, allowing us to determine who formed part of the Real Cabaña de Carreteros, Cabañiles, Jabarderos y Trajineros in Granada.
