Presunción de agencia. Una bolsa de saberes de mujeres ante el castigo penitenciario

Abstract

¿Qué historias contar sobre las mujeres tras las rejas? ¿Qué utensilio narrativo nos sirve para recoger, envolver o acoger las diferentes formas que las mujeres privadas de libertad despliegan para sobrevivir, adaptarse, confrontar, resistir y/o sobrevivir al castigo penal y penitenciario? Siguiendo a Úrsula K. Le Guin podemos pensar en la cárcel a un tiempo como un gran contenedor de personas criminalizadas y también como un espacio donde yacen saberes. Presento esta bolsita de saberes carcelarios, un repertorio de investigaciones sobre mujeres en cárceles que buscan apreciar sus distintas formas de agencia, para lo cual la obra de Dolores Juliano resulta crucial. Se muestra cómo las mujeres resisten a los ejercicios disciplinantes del sistema penitenciario, a través de un amplio repertorio de estrategias como la redefinición de su propia identidad, la escritura, los objetos, el cuerpo, la sexualidad y los afectos.

What stories to tell about women behind bars? What narrative tool can we use to collect, envelop or embrace the different ways that women deprived of their liberty deploy to survive, adapt, confront, resist and/or survive penal and penitentiary punishment? Following Ursula K. Le Guin, we can think of prison as a large container of criminalized people and as a reservoir of knowledge. I present this little bag of prison knowledge, a repertoire of research on women in prisons that seeks to appreciate the different ways in which they are agents, for which the work of Dolores Juliano is crucial. It shows how women resist the disciplining exercises of the penitentiary system through a wide repertoire of strategies such as the redefinition of their own identity, writing, objects, the body, sexuality and affections.
