La Granada zirí (1013-1090)

Abstract

Se trata del primer libro que en castellano se ocupa de esta taifa andalusí del sureste de al-Andalus. No cabe duda de que el siglo XI es un periodo crucial para la comprensión de la Historia no sólo peninsular sino de toda la Europa occidental, puesto que es en esta centuria en la que se dará el gran viraje, el giro en el equilibrio de fuerzas entre los reinos feudales y las formaciones políticas andalusíes. En este contexto, un grupo beréber sinhaya, recién llegado del norte de África, se convierten en una de las piezas claves de las luchas por el poder califal y en los creadores de un nuevo reino cuyo mayor legado es el fundar la ciudad de Granada, como su capital, y que sólo desde entonces comenzará a ser uno de los centros de referencia de la Península Ibérica. En este primer libro sobre la Granada zirí, el autor nos presenta una síntesis sobre sus diferentes estudios sobre el Estado zirí, la sociedad y la política, completado con un primer intento de reconstruir la evolución urbana de Granada a lo largo del siglo XI.

This is the first book in Spanish that deals with this Andalusian taifa in the southeast of al-Andalus. There is no doubt that the 11th century is a crucial period for the understanding of the history not only of the Iberian Peninsula but of the whole of Western Europe, since it is in this century that the great shift in the balance of forces between the feudal kingdoms and the political formations of al-Andalus will take place. In this context, a group of Berber Sinhaya, recently arrived from North Africa, became one of the key pieces in the struggles for caliphal power and the creators of a new kingdom whose greatest legacy was the founding of the city of Granada as its capital, and which only then began to be one of the centers of reference in the Iberian Peninsula. In this first book on Zirid Granada, the author presents a synthesis of his different studies on the Zirid state, society and politics, completed with a first attempt to reconstruct the urban evolution of Granada throughout the 11th century.
