La catedral de Guadix. Historia, Enigmas y Peculiaridades

Abstract

La catedral de Guadix (Granada, España), es un magnifico edificio de gran valor histórico artístico, símbolo de identidad de esta ciudad y la joya de su patrimonio cultural. La historia de su construcción es compleja y estuvo marcada por diferentes circunstancias sociales, económicas y políticas que determinaron que se alargará en el tiempo, abarcando un arco cronológico que va desde el siglo XVI al XVIII. El objetivo de este artículo es acercarnos a la historia de este edificio mostrando los enigmas presentes en su construcción que a pesar de los numerosos trabajos de investigación publicados y la abundante documentación, aún en la actualidad están pendientes de resolver, así como las peculiaridades que hacen de ella una de las catedrales más bellas de patrimonio histórico artístico andaluz.

Guadix Cathedral (Granada, Spain) is a magnificent building of great historical and artistic value, a symbol of the identity of this city and the jewel of its cultural heritage. The history of its construction is complex and was marked by different social, economic and political circumstances that determined that it will last in time, covering a chronological arc that goes from the 16th to the 18th centuries. The objective of this article is to get closer to the history of this building by showing the enigmas present in its construction that, despite the numerous research papers published and the abundant documentation, are still pending to be resolved today, as well as the peculiarities that make from it one of the most beautiful cathedrals of Andalusian artistic and historical heritage
