Un montaje utópico. El Público a través de la mirada de Lluis Pasqual

Abstract

Sin duda, uno de los acontecimientos más trascendentes para la historiografía teatral en la España del último tercio del siglo XX fue la puesta en escena de El Público de Federico García Lorca bajo la dirección de Lluís Pasqual en el Teatro María Guerrero de Madrid, sede del Centro Dramático Nacional. Desde el respeto absoluto al asombroso y enigmático texto lorquiano se materializó un imaginario escénico que recreaba hasta las últimas consecuencias la transgresión estética, social y personal del drama. El montaje, auténtico ejercicio interpretativo de enorme eficacia estética, tuvo una excelente acogida y alcanzó gran reconocimiento internacional.

This article treats the subject of one of the most important events regarding theatrical historiography in Spain in the last third of the 20th century, the staging of El Público by Federico García Lorca directed by Lluís Pasqual at the María Guerrero Theatre in Madrid. Wilfully respecting the amazing and enigmatic Lorca text, a scenic imagery was materialized recreating the aesthetic, social and personal transgression of drama to the last consequences. The performance, an authentic interpretive exercise of great aesthetic efficiency, had an excellent reception and achieved great international recognition.
