Dactylopius opuntiae vs. Opuntia Ficus-indica en España: análisis espacio-temporal y repercursiones paisajísticas a través de los medios de comunicación on-line

Abstract

La creciente introducción de especies exóticas invasoras representa un importante factor de transformación ecológica, paisajística y social, siendo especialmente significativo el efecto de ciertos invertebrados fitófagos sobre la vegetación. En esta investigación se realiza un análisis de la distribución geográfica y de las repercusiones paisajísticas de la cochinilla silvestre (Dactylopius opuntiae) que está afectando a las chumberas (Opuntia ficus-indica) en España. Se utilizan los medios de comunicación on- line como fuente de información. Los resultados muestran, por primera vez, el alcance socio-espacial de este insecto y ponen de manifiesto la disociación existente entre la gestión efectuada por las administraciones públicas y las demandas ciudadanas.

The increasing introduction of alien invasive species is an important factor of ecological, landscape and social transformation. In this sense, the effect of certain invertebrate herbivores on vegetation is especially significant. In this research an analysis is carried out of the geographical distribution and the landscape impact of the wild cochineal (Dactylopius opuntiae) which is affecting the prickly pear (Opuntia ficus-indica) in Spain. The study is developed through the analysis of on-line media. The results show, for the first time, the social and spatial significance of this insect and also demonstrate the dissociation between the management by the public administration and the aspirations of the citizens.

L'introduction croissante des espèces exotiques envahissantes est un facteur important pour la transformation écologique, paysagère et sociale du milieu. Dans ce cas, l'effet de certains invertébrés phytophages sur la végétation est notamment relevé. Dans cette recherche nous présentons une analyse de la répartition géographique et des répercussions paysagères de l'action de la cochenille sylvestre (Dactylopius opuntiae) sur les figuiers de Barbarie (Opuntia ficus-indica) en Espagne. Les médias en ligne sont utilisés comme sources d'information. Les résultats montrent, pour la première fois, l’étendue socio-spatiale de cet insecte et mettent en évidence la dissociation entre la gestion administrative et les demandes des citoyens.
