Estudio heráldico de las tres universidades carolinas: Granada, México y Lima

Abstract

Carlos V desempeñará un importante papel en el panorama educativo del s. xvi. Será piedra angular en el nacimiento de nuevas institucio- nes, actuará en otras de trayectoria ya con- solidada y fundará tres universidades de las que será patrono: Granada, en 1526, México y Lima, ambas en 1551. Con el fin de determinar cómo pervive hoy la memoria fundacional de las universidades carolinas, se ha acometido el estudio de los diferentes escudos utilizados por estas durante su historia.

Carlos V will play an important role in the edu- cational panorama of the 16th century. He will be a key piece for the emergence of new institutions, he will intervene in others with an already consolidated trajectory and he will found three universities of which he will be patron: Granada, in 1526, and Mexico and Lima, both in 1551. In order to determine How the founding memory of the Carolina universi- ties survives today, the study of the different shields used by them during their history has been undertaken.
