Los bailes de jaleo, precedentes directos de los bailes flamencos

Abstract

En este artículo se estudia la conexión histórica entre el baile flamenco y un tipo de danzas a sólo que cobraron especial auge entre el último tercio del siglo XVIII y la primera mitad del XIX, de las que se argumenta también conexiones con algunas antiguas danzas del teatro español: zorongos, vitos, olés, cachuchas…. Aunque con caracteres distintivos cada una de ellas, algunos rasgos comunes justifican su designación conjunta como jaleos, bailes de jaleo, danzas mixtas o danzas teatrales andaluzas. Se argumenta que las tiranas fueron la principal designación genérica de las canciones de los jaleos teatrales. Y también se argumenta que los primeros bailes flamencos pueden considerarse "jaleos populares gypsized", cuyo progresivo perfeccionamiento técnico les vino, principalmente, de su continuado contacto con los jaleos teatrales.

This article focuses on the historical connection between flamenco dance and a type of dances that were especially popular between the last third of the eighteenth century and the first half of the nineteenth century, which are also argued to have connections with some old dances of the Spanish theater: zorongos, vitos, olés, cachuchas..... Although with distinctive characters each of them, some common features justify their common designation as jaleos, jaleo dances, mixed dances or Andalusian theatrical dances. It is argued that tiranas were the main generic designation for the songs of the theatrical jaleos. And it is also argued that the first flamenco dances can be considered "gypsized popular jaleos", whose progressive technical improvement came, mainly, from their continuous contact with the theatrical jaleos.
