Al-Andalus en Chile: hacia una triangulación histórica Mundo árabe España-América Latina a través del semanario árabe-chileno La Reforma (1930-1942)

Abstract

El artículo aborda la instrumentalización del pasado andalusí a través del periódico La Reforma (1930-1942), órgano de información y comunicación de la colectividad árabe en Chile, con objeto de alentar su integración en las estructuras socio-económicas de acogida y avivar el sentimiento de pertenencia árabe. Para ello localizamos testimonios periodísticos de escritores y pensadores emigrados desde el Levante árabe a América, chilenos hispanófilos y españoles de cierto influjo en la intelectualidad chilena de los años treinta, que inciden en los aportes e innovaciones de los sabios andalusíes a la cultura medieval europea, la integración de lo árabe en la sociedad e historiografía latinoamericana y las tesis de los nacionalistas andaluces que otorgaron a los emigrantes árabes en América un papel protagónico como intermediarios de las nuevas relaciones hispano-árabes.

This article deals with the instrumentalization of the Andalusi past through the newspaper La Reforma (1930-1942), a channel of information and communication of the Arab community in Chile aimed at promoting its integration in the socio-economic structures of reception and to fuel the feeling of Arab belonging. Specifically, this article locates journalistic testimonies of writers and thinkers immigrated from the Arab Levant to America, Chileans hispanophiles and Spaniards of certain influence in the Chilean intellectuality of the thirties, which affect the contributions and innovations of the Andalusi scholars to the European medieval culture, the integration of the Arab in Latin American society and historiography and the thesis of the Andalusian nationalists who gave the Arab immigrants in America a leading role as intermediaries in the new Hispanic-Arab relations.
