Presentación: la novela de la artista

Abstract

Partiendo del campo, muy consolidado, de la novela de artista, se propone la existencia específica de la novela de la artista como expresión dentro del ámbito académico en lengua española. La mujer creadora es una protagonista importante de la literatura a finales del siglo XIX y sobre todo a lo largo del siglo XX. Se presentan los trabajos del monográfico, que analizan desde esta perspectiva obras de Virginia Woolf, Doris Lessing, Luisa Valenzuela, Delphine de Vigan, Elena Fortún, Anna Banti, Daniela Hodrova y Soledad Puértolas. Un caso aparte lo representa la literatura china, examinada en su periodo premoderno.

Framed within the well-established field of the novel of the artist, it is argued that there is a specific form for the novel of the woman artist used by scholars in Spanish Studies. The creative woman had a leading role in late 19th Century and mostly early 20th Century literature. The articles of this monograph approach works by Virginia Woolf, Doris Lessing, Luisa Valenzuela, Delphine de Vigan, Elena Fortún, Anna Banti, Daniela Hodrova and Soledad Puértolas. Chinese literature is a special case, and it is examined in the pre-modern period.
