La Mejora de la Competencia Oral de la Lengua Extranjera (Inglés) en Alumnos de Magisterio

Abstract

Esta tesis doctoral tiene como objetivo constatar la evolución de la competencia oral productiva speaking y así la existencia de una posible mejora de esta competencia de la lengua extranjera en alumnos de magisterio de la Mención en Lengua Extranjera (Inglés). Para poder llevar a cabo este estudio, la recogida de datos se realiza a comienzos y a final de la mención, para de esta manera, poder contrastar los datos recogidos. El alumnado pertenece a tres instituciones: la Universidad de Granada, La Universidad de Málaga y al Centro de Magisterio María Inmaculada de Antequera adscrito a la Universidad de Málaga. La recogida de datos se realiza a través de varios instrumentos. Por un lado, a través del examen de nivel de Cambridge English Language Assessment First Certificate, correspondiente al nivel B2 según el Marco Europeo de Referencia de las Lenguas. La prueba es llevada a cabo por una examinadora de Cambridge English Language Assessment y con material real publicado para una buena consecución del examen de nivel. Por otro lado, y para poder conocer mejor al alumnado, se realizan tres cuestionarios que versan sobre datos personales y nivel lingüístico, sobre sus sentimientos y emociones, más concretamente la ansiedad ante la destreza productiva oral speaking y por último sobre estrategias de comunicación oral usadas por ellos ante esta destreza. También se lleva a cabo un estudio sobre los planes de estudios de las dos universidades para conocer si estos han podido influir también en la mejora de speaking en el alumnado. Los datos desvelan cambios entre los dos momentos de la recogida de los datos a comienzos de la mención y a final de los mismos, como se muestra en el apartado de los hallazgos y discusión. A través de análisis estadísticos y descriptivos nos permite comprender mejor el resultado de los mismos y a la misma vez, poder dar respuesta a las preguntas de la investigación, así como al objetivo principal descrito anteriormente. En el capítulo de las conclusiones se sintetizan los resultados y distintas cuestiones que han formado parte de la investigación, tales como el proceso de elaboración y dificultades, entre otros.

This doctoral thesis aims to verify the evolution of productive oral speaking competence and thus the existence of a possible improvement of this foreign language competence in primary teaching students of the English Mention. In order to carry out this study, the data collection is carried out at the beginning and at the end of the mention, in order to be able to contrast the collected data. The student body belongs to three institutions: the University of Granada, the University of Malaga and the Immaculate Teaching Center of Antequera attached to the University of Malaga. Data collection is done through various instruments. In the one hand, through the Cambridge English Language Assessment First Certificate level exam, corresponding to level B2 according to the European Framework of Reference for Languages. The test is carried out by a Cambridge Language Assessment examiner and with real published material for a good achievement of the level exam. On the other hand, and in order to get to know the students better, three questionnaires are carried out that deal with personal data and linguistic level, about their feelings and emotions, more specifically anxiety about productive oral speaking skills and, finally, about strategies used by them before this skill. A study is also carried out on the study plans of the two universities to find out if they have also been able to influence the improvement of speaking in the students. The data reveal changes between the two moments of their collection at the beginning of the mention and at the end of it, as shown in the findings and discussion section. Through statistical and descriptive analysis it allows us to better understand the result of the data and at the same time, to be able to answer the research questions, as well as the main objective described above. The conclusions chapter summarizes the results and different questions that have been part of the investigation, such as the elaboration process and difficulties, among others.
