La intervención en la tejeduría artesanal de San Jacinto, Bolívar, desde la perspectiva de la cultura material

Abstract

En esta tesis se presenta un análisis sobre la tejeduría artesanal de San Jacinto, Bolívar, municipio del Caribe colombiano, desde la perspectiva de la cultura material. Concretamente, se aborda dos vacío teórico de esta manifestación: la relevancia y significación de la tejeduría artesanal y el fenómeno de la intervención representado en el corpus artesanal actual. Los datos que respaldan esta investigación provienen del trabajo etnográfico desarrollado entre los año 2016 y 2022. Entre los hallazgos se identificaron: los valores y el sentido que tiene la artesanía del tejido, los tipos de actores que intervienen; los enfoques de trabajo que tiene cada uno de los actores; el efecto de sus acciones en todas las fases del proceso artesanal: creación, producción, el objeto final y su destino, y aspectos de esta actividad que afecta el modo de vida de los tejedores.

This thesis offers an analysis of traditional weaving in San Jacinto, Bolívar, a municipality of the Colombian Caribbean, from the perspective of tangible culture. Specifically, two theoretical gaps are addressed: the relevance and meaning of such weaving, and different kinds of intervention that currently affect the craftwork. The data that support this research are drawn from ethnographic work undertaken between 2016 and 2022. Among the findings, the following were identified: the values and meaning associated with artesanal weaving; the kinds of actors involved; the approaches that each of them bring to their work; the effects of their actions throughout the different phases of the artesanal process (creation, production, the final product and its destination), and aspects of this activity that permeate the way of life of the weavers.
