Caracterización y valoración patrimonial de los secaderos de tabaco negro en la Vega de Granada

Abstract

El cultivo de tabaco negro en la Vega de Granada alcanzó su máximo esplendor hacia la mitad del siglo XX, siendo consecuencia directa la construcción de hasta seis mil secaderos de tabaco negro que transformaron por completo el paisaje y el estilo de vida de esta zona. El presente trabajo pretende poner en valor tanto la arquitectura tradicional que vertebra estas construcciones así como su patrimonio inmaterial asociado. Para ello, por un lado, se presenta una caracterización de los secaderos de tabaco negro en función al material de construcción y el diseño de los mismos y, por otro lado, se ofrece una valoración patrimonial de estos bienes con el fin de demandar una adecuada protección legislativa que permita que esta huella, aún viva, perdure en el tiempo.

The cultivation of black tobacco in “Vega de Granada” reached its highest splendor towards the middle of the twentieth century. Its greatest consequence was the construction of up to six thousand dryers, that completely transformed the land scape and lifestyle of this area. This paper, aims to value both the traditional architecture in these constructions, as well as their associated intangible heritage. Thereby, on the one hand, a classification of the black tobacco dryers is presented according to their construction material and their design. On the other hand, a patrimonial valuation of these buildings is offered in order to demand adequate protection laws. All this bearing in mind that this legacy, still alive, could endure over time.
