Objeciones a la teoría crip

Abstract

El objeto de esta investigación es realizar una crítica fundamentada a la concepción de la discapacidad desarrollada por la teoría crip. Dicha teoría es una radicalización del modelo social, que sostiene que todo el mundo tiene discapacidad en algún grado porque nadie encaja plenamente en la norma social arbitraria del pleno funcionamiento. El método empleado en este trabajo comienza con la lectura hermenéutica de las investigaciones crip y prosigue con la refutación de sus argumentos. Concluimos que la disolución de la categoría “discapacidad” en un contínuum fluido conduce al borrado teórico y jurídico de la discapacidad. Desde un modelo biopsicosocial, sostenemos que la discapacidad tiene una base material objetiva que debe ser contemplada para reivindicar derechos y políticas públicas. La crítica a la teoría crip es un tema novedoso en la investigación científica y de gran interés debido a la incidencia creciente de la referida aproximación constructivista.

The purpose of this research is to provide a grounded critique of the conception of disability developed by crip theory. This theory is a radicalisation of the social model that claims that everyone has a disability to some degree because no one fully fits in the arbitrary social norm of full functioning. The method employed in this paper begins with a hermeneutic reading of the crip literature and continues with a refutation of its arguments. We conclude that the dissolution of the category “disability” into a fluid continuum results in the theoretical and legal erasure of disability. From a biopsychosocial model, we argue that disability has an objective material basis that must be contemplated in order to claim rights and public policies. Criticism of the crip theory is a new topic in scientific research and of great interest due to the growing incidence of this constructivist approach.
