Los judíos de Madrid. Una aproximación desde sus 'ilustrados'

Abstract

El presente artículo intenta una aproximación al colectivo judío de Madrid, al que se caracteriza como grupo étnico homogéneo frente al resto de la sociedad, pero con una considerable heterogeneidad interna fruto de los distintos préstamos culturales aportados a sus miembros en sus países de origen. Junto a estos elementos, los distintos ritos, el grado de énfasis en la praxis religiosa, el tipo de relación con el entorno, y la actitud ante el Estado de Israel conforman diferentes visiones sobre la identidad judía, que durante años han supuesto una compartimentación y relativo aislamiento entre los dos segmentos del colectivo más numerosos: marroquíes y argentinos. Tras casi veinte años de desencuentro, la atemperación del laicismo militante de gran parte del grupo argentino, así como la suavización de los aspectos más rigoristas del grupo ortodoxo marroquí, están posibilitando el acercamiento de posturas y la configuración de un proyecto étnico común, en el que está jugando un papel fundamental el relevo de las nuevas generaciones, gran parte de ellas nacidas ya en Madrid, y el progresivo incremento de los matrimonios formados por cónyuges de ambos grupos.

This article studies the Jewish community of Madrid, which is considered a homogeneous ethnic group before the rest of society, but with a considerable internal heterogeneity thanks to the distinct cultural and national sources of its members. Together with these elements, the distinct rites, the degree of emphasis in relious praxis, the type of relationships with the surroundings, and the atititude faced with the State of Israel, different visions regarding the Jewish identity emerge, which during years have displayed a compartmentalization and a relative isolation between the two largets segments of the community: Morroccans and Argentinans. After almost twenty years of confrontation, the moderation of militant laicism in the majority of the Argentine group, as well as the softening of the most rigorous elements of the Morroccan Orthodox group, are making possible the drawing together of positions and the configuration of a common ethnic project, in which the new generations are playing the funamental role, most of whom live now in Madrid, and the progrssive increase in the number of marriages formed by the joining of both groups.
