Amistad y redes culturales femeninas: el caso de Adelina Gurrea y Elena Fortún

Abstract

La escritora Adelina Gurrea (1896-1971) nacida en Filipinas, aunque afincada en España, nunca dejó de añorar la tierra donde creció, a la que dedicó la mayor parte de sus escritos. Ello no le impidió estar vinculada a las redes que las intelectuales madrileñas tejieron en la primera mitad del siglo XX. Como ejemplo de esta integración se revisa en este trabajo su relación de amistad con la también escritora Elena Fortún (1886-1952). Para ello se examinan inventarios de distintas instituciones, noticias de prensa y dataciones de poemas. Pero los documentos más significativos que permiten concluir que Adelina Gurrea participó de manera activa en los círculos y foros madrileños son las cartas que escribe Elena Fortún, tanto dirigiéndose a ella como a otros interlocutores.

The writer Adelina Gurrea (1896-1971), who was born in Philippines but settled in Spain, never stopped longing for the land where she grew up, and to which she dedicated most of her writings. This did not mean that she was no longer part of the networks that Madrid’s female intellectuals wove in the first half of the 20th century. As an account of this involvement, this work reviews her friendship with the writer Elena Fortún. For this purpose, inventories from different institutions, press reports and the dating of poems were examined. However, the most significant documents that allow us to conclude that Adelina Gurrea actively participated in Madrid circles and forums are the letters written by Elena Fortún, both to herself and to other correspondents.
