Memoria y arquitectura popular

Abstract

En este artículo se pretende una reflexión sobre la arquitectura popular, teniendo como referente un aspecto que ha de considerarse para una mejor comprensión de este tipo de construcciones: la memoria. A partir de ciertos símbolos que permanecen en la arquitectura popular, la memoria se activa, reconociendo en aquella un espacio histórico y una memoria colectiva que manifiesta la permanencia en el tiempo y la revelación y recuperación de un pasado que nos ayuda a comprender y ennoblecer el presente. Y, por tanto, la necesidad de considerar la arquitectura como patrimonio de nuestra cultura.

We reflect on folk architecture, taking as a reference a key aspect for the understanding of this type of construction: memory. Certain symbols in folk architecture stimulate the memory through a recognition of a historical space and a collective memory that remain permanent through time, and the revelation and recovery of a past which helps us to understand and ennoble our present. Thus architecture is an imortant element of our cultural heritage.
