La fiesta de Elche. Un marco simbólico-identitario

Abstract

He aquí un estudio etnohistórico sobre la representación del "Misterio de Elche", un auto sacramental cuya antigüedad se remonta a la edad media. El artículo describe el contexto ideológico y el contexto histórico, haciendo uso de abundante documentación. Por otro lado, relaciona esta celebración con los rituales de difuntos y profundiza en el análisis de varios elementos, como son el espacio, el ruido y el calor.

We present an ethnohistorical study of the representation of the "Mystery of Elche", a sacramental act dating to the Middle Ages. The article describes the ideological and historical context of the ceremony, making abundant use of documentation. This celebration is compared to rituals of the dead and elaborated with respect to several elements, like space, noise and heat.
