Targum de Joel

Abstract

El Tg Joel, como todos los Tgs en general, hay que juzgarlo en relación con el TM, teniendo en cuenta los acentos y matices que el Tg aporta al texto según sus tendencias aclaratorias y actualizantes. A la narración de la plaga de langostas y la invitación a la penitencia el Tg le da una nueva visión: la langosta es el símbolo de las naciones que han atacado y humillado y humillan a Israel. Asimismo la invitación imperiosa por parte del Tg a la conversión tiene por objeto que, al final de los tiempos ya cercanos, Dios en el juicio final condene a todos los malvados, representados sobre todo por los enemigos de Israel, y éste a su vez se sienta compensado con toda clase de bienes. Sin embargo, en este Tg no se halla alusión alguna al Mesías. Por los recursos hermenéuticos empleados y por su contenido doctrinal es obvio que el Tg de Joel, a pesar de su brevedad, constituye un notable ejemplo del género targúmico profético.

The Tg of Joel, like Tgs in general, must be judged in relation with MT, which Tg tries to translate, by adding features and changes according to its trend to clarify and up-date the Hebrew text. The Tg of Joel gives a new vision to the locust’s plague and the prophetic invitation to repentance. The first becomes a symbole of the nations who have attacked and humiliated Israel. The repentance is understood as a final conversion of Israel in the eschatological times, which are near, when God in his judgment will condemn the wicked, the enemies of Israel, and will compensate his people with every kind of goods. In this Tg it is no mention of Messiah. The hermeneutic devices and the doctrinal contents found in this Tg are an evident proof that Tg of Joel, in spite of its brevity, represents an outstanding example of the targumic genre.
