La transformación de las cubiertas y aleros del Patio de los Leones de la Alhambra desde mediados del S.XIX hasta inicios del S.XX

Abstract

A partir de la segunda mitad del siglo XIX se desarrollan una serie de transformaciones en los tejados de las galerías y pabellones del Patio de los Leones de la Alhambra de gran relevancia. Durante el transcurso de seis décadas, y de manera concatenada en el tiempo, se produjeron ciertos cambios estéticos en estos faldones y su sistema de aleros que en parte han perdurado hasta el presente constituyendo la imagen actual de estas cubiertas. Los autores de estos cambios en la esencia de estos elementos, popularmente conocidos por numerosas fotografías y textos de la época, buscaban alinearse con las tendencias románticas historicistas, pero reinterpretaron erróneamente la arquitectura nazarí, produciendo coyunturalmente una serie de alteraciones en todas estas estructuras que no habían sido analizadas de forma detenida hasta el momento.

From the second half of the 19th century onwards, the roofs of the galleries and pavilions of the Court of Lions in the Alhambra underwent a series of significant transformations. Over a period of six decades and in a concatenated manner over time, certain aesthetic changes were made to these roofs and their eaves system that have partly survived to the present day, constituting the current image of these roofs. The authors of these changes in the essence of these elements, which are popularly known through numerous photographs and texts of the time, sought to be aligned with the trends of the romantic historicisms, but they reinterpreted incorrectly the nasrid architecture producing a series of alterations in all these structures that had not been analysed in detail until now.
