El contexto como factor restrictivo

Abstract

El estudio de la aplicación de las reglas gezerá sawá y binyan 'ab. en el midrás Génesis Rabbah, revela que el método comparativo necesita algo más que la existencia de un elemento común para poder relacionar versículos; necesita, además, que el contexto sea común. Este requisito, no señalado hasta ahora, funciona a su vez, en el caso de la gezerá sawá, como elemento restrictivo. No se puede aducir cualquier versículo donde aparezca el elemento común, sino sólo áquel cuyo contexto lo permite.

The study of the examples of gezerah shawah's and binyan ’ab's rules in the midrash Bereshit Rabbah, offers a new approach to the comparative method. This method needs not only a similar word to connect verses but also a common context. The requirement of the context, not studied until now, has a restrictive function in the rule of gezerah shawah. Indeed, only the verse with the appropiate context can be adduced, the other verses where the similar word appears can not be adduced.
