Los estudios veterotestamentarios en España: visión panorámica desde el Concilio Vaticano II hasta el presente

Abstract

Este artículo presenta de forma genérica el desarrollo de los estudios sobre el Antiguo Testamento realizados en España desde el año 1975. Este recorrido parte de la situación de estos estudios en la etapa anterior e inmediatamente posterior al Vaticano II para presentar la específica aportación española. La singularidad histórica y social de España ha hecho que el desarrollo de estas ciencias haya estado en gran medida determinado por la evolución de las mismas en el mundo católico. La adaptación española comenzó por la traducción del texto bíblico con renovados criterios. Este hecho generó la difusión de la Biblia y del Antiguo Testamento despertando el interés por todo lo relacionado con ello. Hoy en día podemos fácilmente distinguir las líneas de investigación veterotestamentaria en las que España se está convirtiendo en indudable referencia.

This article presents in a rather generic way the development in the field of studies about Old Testament carried on in Spain since 1975. The article begins dealing with the situation of these studies just before and immediately after Vatican II, to analyse the Spanish contribution. The historical and social peculiarities of Spain have determined that the development of these sciences be subject to the evolution of those in the catholic world. The Spanish process of adaptation started with the translation of the biblical text with renewed criteria. This has produced the diffusion of the Bible and the Old Testament, raising the interest in anything concerning these affairs. Nowadays, we can easily distinguish the main Old Testament streams of research in which Spain is becoming an undoubted reference.
