Desarrollo empresarial y adaptación social inmigrante: la comunidad judía de Valparaíso-Viña del Mar en la primera mitad del siglo XX

Abstract

En este artículo se analiza el proceso de inserción y evolución laboral del colectivo judío de Valparaíso-Viña del Mar (Chile), teniendo en cuenta su capital cultural y social y haciendo notar sus estrategias para adaptarse a las posibilidades que le otorgaba el medio receptor, considerando las políticas públicas y disposición de la sociedad. Se concluye que existe una convergencia positiva entre el significativo capital cultural y social del grupo estudiado y un apropiado ambiente receptivo desde el medio de acogida.

This paper analyses the process of the insertion and labor evolution of one particular group in Chile, the Jewish collectivity of Valparaíso-Viña del Mar, considering its cultural and social capital and noting its strategies to adapt to the possibilities provided by the receiving society in light of public policies and the general frame of mind. It concludes that there is a positive convergence between significant cultural and social capital and an appropriate receptive environment in the host society.
