The paper assesses some methodological questions concerning to the anthropological research in environments where the violence or the commission of a crime is within the possibilities of the life for certain social groups. The case study was the jails. The coercive factor of this place is emphasized as an element to be considered from the epistemological standpoint. Instead of safeguarding the methodological purity, as neutrality or devices that allow everybody’s place to be clearly fixed, it is emphasizes the necessity to adapt technical devices within the frameworks that limit the scope of investigation as well as the moral acceptability of the methods and the vulnerability may result from them.
