“Por palavras cubertas”. El juego de la aequivocatio en las cantigas de escarnio y maldecir de Alfonso X

Abstract

La Poética fragmentaria de B intenta establecer una distinción entre las cantigas de escarnio y las de maldecir, cuya pertinencia la propia praxis textual de los cancioneros se encarga de desmentir. El corpus poético profano de Alfonso X se inserta en este marco normativo. Sin embargo, el análisis de los textos poéticos satíricos alfonsíes desde la perspectiva normativa del Arte de trovar permite una aproximación más enriquecedora. El registro político, y en particular el ciclo de la defección de los caballeros en la guerra de Granada, parece poder enmarcarse en el género mal dizer de manera específica. Por lo que se refiere al registro del escarnho, hay también una concretización específica en algunas cantigas. Pero donde no existe ninguna duda es en aquellas cantigas que recurren al juego de la aequivocatio. Aquí las palavras cubertas y los dous entendimentos posibles del texto obligan a una descodificación que aclare el sentido.

B’s Fragmentary Poetics attempts to establish a distinction between the songs of derision and those of cursing, the relevance of which the songbooks’ own textual praxis is in charge of refuting. The secular poetic corpus of Alfonso X is inserted in this normative framework. However, the analysis of the Alphonsi satirical poetic texts from the normative perspective of the Art of Trovar allows a more enriching approach. The political record, and in particular the cycle of the defection of the knights in the war of Granada, seems to be able to be framed in the genre mal dizer in a specific way. As regards the record of escarnho, there is also a specific concretization in some cantigas. But where there is no doubt is in those cantigas that resort to the game of aequivocatio. Here the palavras cubertas and the possible dous entendimentos of the text force a decoding that clarifies the meaning.
