Espacios en tránsito. Revitalización del paisaje cultural de la Vega de Granada

Abstract

La Vega de Granada (España) es un territorio histórico de enorme valor, tanto desde el punto de vista productivo agrícola como cultural. Durante las últimas seis décadas, los cambios en la economía global, unidos a una actitud permisiva por parte de las administraciones con el crecimiento urbano sobre el entorno rural, han modificado profundamente este territorio. Los espacios de contacto, aquellos que materializan la transición rural-urbana, se presentan como posibilidades para revitalizar este paisaje en el siglo XXI. El presente artículo propone realizar un breve recorrido por los principales cultivos utilizados, sus producciones arquitectónicas e infraestructuras, que durante siglos caracterizaron el paisaje cultural de la Vega de Granada, para posteriormente analizar la situación actual de este territorio y presentar diversas iniciativas que están aprovechando la indefinición de los espacios de transición para recuperar usos propios de la Vega y revalorizarlos. Se refleja así cómo estos espacios en tránsito, activados por iniciativas ciudadanas, son los lugares con mayores posibilidades para la recuperación de un paisaje cultural que actualmente se presenta sin un futuro claro.

The Vega de Granada (Spain) is a historical landscape of enormous value, from both productive and cultural points of view. In the last six decades, changes in the global economy, together with the permissiveness of the administrations with the urban growth on the rural realm, have deeply modified this territory. The contact spaces, those which materialize the rural-urban transition, seem able to revitalize this landscape in the 21st century. This article proposes to summarize the main crops grown here, as well as their architectural productions and infrastructures, that have shaped for centuries the cultural landscape of the Vega de Granada, starting from there, we will analyze the current situation of this territory, as well as some initiatives that are taking advantage of the lack of definition of those limit spaces, to try to recuperate local activities and valorize them. This article explains that these transitory spaces, activated by bottom-up initiatives, are the places with biggest possibilities to revitalize a cultural landscape without a clear future.
