Abstract

Los desastres causados por alteraciones climáticas o naturales durante el año 2017, en el ámbito del patrimonio arquitectónico y urbano portugués fueron extremamente impactantes. Más de 500 incendios forestales en Portugal fueron desencadenados en la región central y norte del país. En términos de pérdidas materiales, fueron contabilizadas más de quinientas casas destruidas por el fuego de forma parcial o total. Para el estudio de caso fueron elegidas las ciudades de Álvaro, Madeirã y Sertã, situadas en el distrito de Castelo Branco, epicentro de la tragedia. La investigación tiene como objetivo destacar las discusiones que involucra políticas de actuación en la esfera de la preservación y rehabilitación de bienes patrimoniales, sobre todo aquellas que enfocan al ambiente construido correlacionadas con la naturaleza. Asimismo, será realizado un registro de las intervenciones arquitectónicas desarrolladas por nuestra institución, junto con especialistas de diversas áreas en las viviendas antiguas de esas localidades.

The disasters caused by climate change or natural causes in 2017 were extremely significant in the context of Portuguese architectural and urban heritage. More than 500 fires broke out in the woods of central and north Portugal. In regard to material damages, more than 500 houses were either partially or totally destroyed by the fire. In terms of spatial framework, we have selected the Portuguese villages of Álvaro, Madeirã and Sertã, located in the region of central Portugal – District of Castelo Branco, and which were in the centre of the tragedy. The objective of this work is to discuss heritage preservation and rehabilitation politics, particularly the ones concerned to the built environment and its interface with nature. Besides, we will register the interventions on the houses at these villages made by the FA-Universidade de Lisboa students and teachers, as well as the ones made by specialists of different areas.
