Abstract

La casa patio tradicional de la medina marroquí recibe las influencias del legado cultural andalusí que aportaron fundamentalmente los moriscos inmigrados a comienzos del siglo XVII, sazonada con la prolongada tradición islámica proveniente de Fez y del Magreb en general. Los tipos más antiguos que aún permanecen pueden reconocerse del s.XVII-XVIII, constituyendo ejemplos únicos en el arco Mediterráneo. Esta casa patio tradicional seguirá desarrollándose al amparo de estas influencias durante lás décadas siguientes, hasta la llegada de la occidentalización del s.XIX. El florecimiento económico y cultural que se produce entonces se manifiesta, a nivel de la arquitectura de la casa patio, en la reforma o reconstrucción del patio según criterios más eclécticos, en los que la influencia europea fue hibridada con la importante tradición y el respeto a las disposiciones del Corán.

The traditional courtyard house of the Moroccan medina receives the influences of the Andalusian cultural heritage that was contributed by the immigrant Moriscos at the beginning of the XVII century, influenced with the long Islamic tradition coming from Fez and the Maghreb in general. The oldest types that still remain can be recognized from the 17th-18th century, constituting unique examples in the Mediterranean arc. This traditional courtyard house will continue to develop under these influences during the following decades, until the arrival of the westernization of the 19th century. The economic and cultural flourishing that takes place then is manifested, at the level of the architecture of the courtyard house, in the reform or reconstruction of the courtyard according to more eclectic criteria, in which the European influence was hybridized with the important tradition and respect for the provisions of the Koran.
