Lo visto y no visto en la autoficción testimonial La Escuelita, de Alicia Partnoy

Abstract

En La Escuelita. Relatos testimoniales (2006 [1986]), se entretejen a modo de autoficción testimonial el testimonio de primera mano de Alicia Partnoy, la víctima, y los dibujos de su madre, Raquel Partnoy. La construcción narrativa de este testimonio textovisual, hecho de palabras e imágenes, gira alrededor de la visión o la falta de esta. La mirada introspectiva de las víctimas, representada visual y verbalmente, abre a un espacio de ficcionalización que trasciende lo visto a través de los ojos. Es desde ese espacio autoficcional donde se conjuga lo visto y lo no visto, sostengo, que los presos con los ojos vendados de La Escuelita, incluyendo a la reaparecida Alicia Partnoy, resisten, crean lazos de solidaridad entre sí. Además, el testimonio de Partnoy deviene ejemplar al romper, desde ese mismo modo autoficcional, el entendimiento de la literatura como manifestación autónoma, desvinculada de lo real. La Escuelita es finalmente admitida como prueba jurídica en los juicios de la verdad donde Alicia Partnoy testifica, resolviendo así, según argumento, la tensión entre lo ficcional y lo no ficcional que teóricas como Kaminsky (1993), Taylor (1997) o Detwiler (2000), habían identificado como característica inherente a la literatura testimonial.

In La Escuelita. Relatos testimoniales (2006 [1986]), are woven together, as a form of exemplary testimonial autoficion, the first-hand testimony given by Alicia Partnoy, the victim, and the drawings made by her mother, Raquel Partnoy. The images contribute to the narrative construction of a visual and textual testimonio that revolves around vision, or lack thereof. The introspective gaze, therein represented visually and verbally, opens the victims to a space of fictionalization that transcends what is seen through the eyes. It is from within this autofictonal space of resistance, I claim, that the blindfolded captives of La Escuelita, including la reaparecida, Alicia Partnoy, navigate their world, and establish a sense of solidarity amongst themselves. Furthermore, Partnoy’s autofictional testimonio breaks with the understanding of literature as an autonomous manifestation detached from the real. La Escuelita is recognized as legal proof in the truth trials where Alicia Partnoy testified, thereby resolving, I argue, the tension between the fictional and the nonfictional that is inherent to literary testimony according to Kaminsky (1993), Taylor (1997), and Detwiler (2000), among others.
