El presente trabajo supone un acercamiento multidisciplinar y mediante una metodología mixta a un objeto de estudio en aumento y evolución en la sociedad española: el islam. Sin embargo, no pretende ser un trabajo teológico o dogmático de la religión en sí, sino que parte del contexto específico y temporal del islam español actual; para producir un análisis teórico y empírico sobre dicha realidad concreta. La tesis actual analiza siete apartados que permiten construir, desde diferentes perspectivas teóricas y metodológicas, un acercamiento al objeto de estudio perseguido. La metodología empleada está cimentada en entrevistas en profundidad a líderes religiosos de las ocho provincias andaluzas, donde se han seleccionado los centros considerados de referencia por las propias comunidades. Asimismo, también se aportan metodologías de otras investigaciones académicas e, incluso, se han realizado dos pequeños análisis, uno demográfico y otro de documentos, teniendo en cuenta la especificidad de cada apartado que se abarca
