Análisis de facies del mesozoico en el subbético externo : (provincia de Córdoba y sur de Jaén)

Se han estudiado seis unidades pertenecientes al subbético externo en las cordilleras béticas compuestas mayoritariamente por rocas sedimentarias jurásico-cretacicas. Estas unidades son las del camarena-lanchares gaena y lobatejo-pollos situadas en la provincia de Córdoba y las de grajales-mentidero ahillo y ventisquero que se encuentran al s de Jaén. Se han diferenciado nueve formaciones cinco en las series jurásicas (gavilán, zegri, camarena, veleta y ammonitico rosso superior) y cuatro en las series cretácicas (carretero carbonero capas rojas y quipar-jorquera). Su litología es predominantemente carbonatada. En las formaciones gavilán y camarena dominan las calizas de plataforma somera mientras que en las restantes formaciones dominan las calizas margosas calizas y margas pelágicas localmente con intercalaciones de sedimentos redepositados (turbiditas conglomerados y brechas) facies euxinicas y radiolaritas. Las discontinuidades estratigráficas constituyen uno de los rasgos más importantes de las unidades estudiadas. se han reconocido seis discontinuidades principales (carixiense inferior-domeriense aaleniense bathoniense superior-calloviense berriasiense aptiense-albiense y cenomaniense-turoniense). Se han interpretado en relación con cambios eustáticos regionales y accidentes tectónicos locales.
