La política, la violencia y sus repercusiones en el arte colombiano, 1948-1956

Abstract

Desde 1930, Colombia ha sufrido graves manifestaciones de violencia política que, agravadas a partir de 1947, se manifiestan aún. El tema ha sido reiterativo en obras de artistas visuales colombianos de varias generaciones y se ha vuelto una tradición. Este estudio está centrado en los primeros pintores que se dedicaron a denunciar las particularidades de esta larga y sangrienta guerra civil no declarada, trazando un paralelo entre los episodios registrados históricamente y lo que expresan sus cuadros.

Since 1930, Colombia has suffered acute moments of violence that beginning in 1947 have become part of the social fabric. As a result, this has been a repetitive theme of intergenerational Colombian visual artists, thereby creating a tradition. This study is centered on the first painters that dedicated their work to denounce this long and blooded non-declared civil war, showing the connections between violent episodes and how art works express the historically recognized moments.
