Políticas de la lectura: los personajes de Don Quijote como comunidades interpretativas

Abstract

El siguiente trabajo se propone esbozar un estudio de la lectura en la novela cervantina que analice las prácticas interpretativas de los personajes-lectores como miembros de comunidades interpretativas, según la definición de interpretive community dada por Stanley Fish dentro de la teoría literaria definida como reader-oriented. Veremos cómo estos grupos de lectores, con sus propios mecanismos de apropiación y comprensión de los textos y de la realidad, son históricamente y socialmente determinados y utilizan, difunden y canonizan una interpretación concreta que, supuestamente, se tiene que quedar dentro de unos límites que aseguran la no-arbitrariedad de la lectura.

The aim of this paper is focused in analysing the practice of reading in the Cervantine novel, through the study of the interpretative practices of the readers depicted by the author in the novel. We can define these groups of characters as interpretive communities, following the definition given by Stanley Fish within the reader-oriented literary criticism. These historically and socially determined communities, with their own appropriation and comprehension mechanisms, usually apply, spread and establish as “normal” a particular interpretation that cannot overlook the limitations of a legitimate and no-arbitrary reading.
