Perseguir ou reconhecer? Abolicionismo, autodeterminação e reconhecimento de direitos para o trabalho sexual

Abstract

Sexo em troca de dinheiro é um tema fraturante na política sexual. Não sendo novo, o confronto divide os partidos políticos e o movimento feminista. No abolicionismo, a criminalização da procura é cada vez mais reclamada, acentuando-se assim a oposição a uma solução política assente na autodeterminação e no reconhecimento de direitos para quem vive do comércio do sexo. Começando por situar a prostituição em termos teóricos e políticos, os autores analisam as transformações recentes no campo abolicionista e suas consequências para as mulheres, homens e pessoas trans que prestam serviços sexuais. Como alternativa, sugerem a descriminalização e o reconhecimento laboral da prostituição e de todas as outras práticas sexuais de carácter mercantil como a melhor solução para, no contexto social e político existente, reduzir a estigmatização e a marginalização a que estão sujeitos os indivíduos que prestam serviços sexuais.

Sex in exchange for money is a fracturing theme in the sexual politics. Not a new issue, the debate divided political parties and the feminist movement. The abolitionists’ criminalization of the demand for sexual services is increasingly advocated for the eradication of prostitution, opposing it to any political solution based on self-determination and the recognition of rights of those who sell sex. Starting from analyzing prostitution in theoretical and political terms, the authors analyze the recent transformations in the abolitionist field and its consequences for women, men and trans persons who sell sexual services. They suggest the decriminalization and the recognition - as labor - of prostitution and all other commercial sexual practices. In the existing social and political context, they can be the best solution to reduce the stigmatization and marginalization of individuals who sell sexual services.
