¿Puede la atención al pasado situar este delante de nosotros?

Abstract

El tiempo es un concepto abstracto que representamos mentalmente con ayuda de dominios conceptuales concretos como es el espacio. Generalmente, la mayoría pensamos que el futuro está delante de nosotros y el pasado detrás. Sin embargo, en otras culturas como la árabe, esta espacialización se encuentra revertida. En el presente estudio se pretende poner a prueba una hipótesis explicativa de esta diferencia intercultural, la Teoría del Foco Atencional. Según esta, situamos delante de nosotros aquello a lo que prestamos más atención, por lo que una tarea de inducción de foco atencional en el pasado debería traer este delante. En el presente estudio, tras inducir foco atencional temporal en el pasado o en el futuro, se realizó una tarea de diagrama temporal y otra tarea de clasificación de referencias temporales con respuesta manual hacia delante y hacia atrás en la que se midieron los tiempos de reacción. Los resultados obtenidos muestran un efecto nulo del foco atencional en ambas tareas, lo cual no apoya las predicciones de la teoría.

The time is an abstract concept mentality represented with help of concretes domains like is the space. Generally, most of us think the future is ahead and the past behind. However, in others cultures like the Arabian, this mapping is reverted. In this research we pretend to test an explanatory hypothesis for this intercultural different, the Attentional Focus Theory. According to this, we put ahead of us that to which we pay more attention. Therefore, an induction task of temporal-focus in the past must bring this in front. In this research, after induce temporal-focus in the past or in the future, the participant make a Temporal Diagram Task and a categorical task of temporal references with handle answers forwards and backwards in which we measured the reaction time. The results obtained show no effect of the temporal-focus in both task, hence don’t support the predictions of the theory.
