LA NECESIDAD DE SENTIDO EN EL ARTE NEGROAFRICANO

Abstract

El título de este trabajo puede resultar extraño a toda persona ajena al arte negroafricano. El rechazo del sinsentido se debe a que la esencia religiosa que empapa (toda) la producción artística en África desde la noche de los tiempos hasta la actualidad. No se puede comprender el arte negroafricano sin la religión negroafricana tradicional o ancestral. Esta es la «atmósfera teórica» en la que el arte producido en África Negra cobra su sentido. De ahí que, desde el siglo XIX, los pensadores europeos y americanos, sean etnólogos, teólogos, como antropólogos y filósofos, etc., lo hayan llegado a caracterizar y malinterpretar olvidando la relación profunda del negro con sus ancestros.

The title of this paper may be shocking to anyone who is not familiar with the nature of the black African art. The nonsensical rejection is due to the religious basis of artistic production in Africa from antiquity until the present day. Black African art cannot be understood without the traditional or ancestral Negro-African religion. This is the «theoretical atmosphere» in which the art produced in the black Africa makes sense. Hence, since the nineteenth century, European and American thinkers, such as ethnologists, theologians, anthropologists, philosophers, etc., have misconceived it forgetting the deep relationship of black Africans with their ancestors.
