De memoria histórica y apariciones fantasmagóricas: el espectro en Non hai noite tan longa de Agustín Fernández Paz

Abstract

En paralelo al surgimiento del movimiento de recuperación de la memoria histórica en el conjunto del Estado español a comienzos del siglo XXI, la novela que tematiza la guerra civil y el franquismo experimenta un auge que da lugar a la fijación de ciertos tropos recurrentes como las apariciones fantasmales. A través de la teoría clásica sobre los espectros de Derrida y de otros trabajos que abordan este fenómeno en la literatura, este trabajo analiza la función y el significado del fantasma en la novela Non hai noite tan longa (2011)2 del escritor gallego Agustín Fernández Paz y muestra tanto la influencia del Hamlet shakesperiano como su relación con la necesidad de afrontar un pasado traumático que vuelve y reclama justicia.

Together with the emergence of the recovery movement of historical memory in the Spanish state at the beginning of the 21st century, the novel that recreates the period of the Civil War and Francisco Franco’s regime has experienced a boom that has led to the fixation of certain recurring tropes such as ghostly apparitions. This paper is based on the classical theory about the spectres of Derrida and other works that have studied this phenomenon in the literature to propose an analysis of the role and meaning of the ghost in the novel Non hai noite tan longa (2011) by the Galician writer Agustín Fernández Paz, showing both the influence of the Shakespeare’s Hamlet and its relationship with the need to face a traumatic past that demands justice.
